The Mukhtasar Al-Quduri: A Manual of Islamic Law According to the Hanafi School

The Mukhtasar al-Quduri is the foundation for the Hanafi school and is one of the most famous and influential treatises in any Muslim school of methodology and philosophy. It serves as a primer for academics as well as a guide for the general public.

Al-Mukhtasar al-Quduri Fi Fiqh Hanafiyyah (Al Kitab) contains over 12,500 cases covering the entire spectrum of fiqh, including worship, business transactions, personal relationships, and penal and judicial issues, among others. Arabic text is included, and it is printed on high-quality paper that is easy to read. The Hanafi jurist Abul-Hasan Ahmad ibn Muhammad ibn Ahmad ibn Ja’far ibn Hamdan al-Quduri al-Baghdadi was born in 362 AH.

Al-Quduri is a term used to describe the act of selling pots (Qudur). He learned fiqh from Abu ‘Abdillah Muhammad ibn al-Jurjani, Abu Bakr al Jassas al-Razi, Abul-Hasan al-Karkhi, Abu Sa’id al-Barda’i, and ‘Ali al-Daqqaq, Abu Sahl Musa ibn Nasr al-Razi, Muhammad ibn al-Hasan

Ashab al-Tarjih was Al-Quduri (jurists who weighed and analyzed the strengths of differing verdicts in the madhhab). His renown grew as the Hanafis in Iraq started to rely on him for leadership. Al-Hidayah and al-Khulasah, two well-known Hanafi works, both mention him. On the 15th of Rajab 428 AH, he died in Baghdad and was initially buried in his home, but was later relocated and interred alongside another Hanafi jurist, Abu Bakr al-Khawarizmi.
