The Futur Simple is the French equivalent of the future tense in English. It is used to talk about actions or events that will happen in the future, especially those that are more distant or less certain than those described with the Futur Proche.

The Futur Simple is formed by:

  1. Taking the infinitive of the verb (for regular verbs).
    • For -er and -ir verbs, use the infinitive as the base.
    • For -re verbs, drop the final -e from the infinitive.
  2. Adding the future endings (which are the same as the conjugations of avoir in the present tense):
    • -ai, -as, -a, -ons, -ez, -ont
